Non-Executive Director · Board Advisor
Philip Mordecai
Most businesses don’t fail for lack of effort; they stall when the gap between the Board’s vision and the CEO’s reality grows too wide. I bridge that gap.
As an Independent NED and Advisor, I enable companies to focus on outcomes, not optics.

How I Work.
Clear. Direct. Independent.
“I'm not there to agree with the room”
As an independent voice at the table, I don't offer 'Advisory Theatre' or polished, safe opinions from the sidelines. As a current CEO, entrepreneur, and active founder, I bring a builder’s mindset to the boardroom. My role is to ask the difficult questions before they become expensive mistakes, ensuring strategy and execution stay locked together.
Philip’s Background
CEO · Non-Executive Director · Board Advisor
I have spent over two decades operating at the intersection of technology, media and digital platform services, working with listed companies, private enterprises, and UHNWI-backed ventures across Europe and the US.
My journey so far has included senior roles at Sky, MGM, Liberty Global, SES Satellites, and Curzon, giving me first-hand experience of what it takes to lead, scale, and navigate change within some of the most competitive technology businesses.
On the transactions side, I have worked across both the buy and sell sides of media and entertainment, technology, communications, and space. Previously, I served as a Non-Executive Director (NED) of a UK SaaS business acquired by Accedo Broadband AB, and I have held various trustee positions.
Why Philip?
The Perspective of an Active Operator
Most advisory firms stay at a safe distance. I add value because my perspective comes from having sat in the CEO seat this morning.
Battle-Tested: +20 years scaling ventures at SES Satellites, Curzon, Sky, MGM and Liberty Global
Currently Active: CEO of a high-growth UK service provider and co-founder of a US AI data firm
Inventor’s Mindset: Two US patents pending. I understand the chaos of innovation and the rigour of governance

Florido Explained
-
Most advisory firms stay at a distance. You get polished decks, safe opinions, and very little real challenge.
Florido is different. The perspective comes from having sat in the CEO seat, operated at board level, and been accountable for outcomes, not just advice.
That means conversations are direct, assumptions are challenged early, and decisions are grounded in real operating experience rather than theory.
It’s not about adding more noise. It’s about bringing clarity, focus and independent thinking when it matters most.
-
Florido works with founders, CEOs, investors and boards of businesses typically in the £2M to £15M ARR range, where growth is real but complexity is starting to build.
That often means moments where the business is scaling faster than its systems or leadership structure can comfortably support, or where the stakes are higher, whether through investment, transition or strategic change.
The common thread is simple: situations where experience, independent thinking and clear judgment are needed around the board table.
-
Most of the situations Florido is brought into don’t look like problems at first. They show up as growth, opportunity, or momentum.
But underneath, there’s often a loss of clarity, stretched leadership, or decisions that carry more risk than they used to.
That might mean:
Growth outpacing structure, with increasing complexity and less visibility
A CEO under pressure, needing a trusted, experienced sounding board
A board that lacks independent challenge or real operating perspective
Misalignment between strategy and execution
High-stakes moments such as investment, transition or integration
Florido helps bring those situations back into focus, ensuring decisions are clear, risks are understood, and the business stays in control as it grows.
-
For businesses that do not require day-to-day operational support but need a Fresh, independent board perspective, we provide Fractional NED services. This role is focused on sharpening corporate governance, providing an objective view on growth plans, and supporting founders through the complexities of scaling and international expansion.
